BaoBao Talk teaches Mandarin. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Apple or Google. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash.
- Learning data: lessons completed, review scheduling, streak, bamboo balance, and which characters and words you have practised.
- Device token: if you turn on reminders, an Apple push token so we can send them.
- Purchases: subscription and purchase status, handled by Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your card details.
- Diagnostics: anonymous usage and crash events.
Speaking exercises
Speech recognition runs through Apple's speech services on your device. We receive only the recognized text so the exercise can be scored, and we do not store your voice recordings.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising. There is no cross-app tracking.
Who else processes it
- Apple: sign-in, push notifications, purchases, speech recognition
- Google: sign-in, if you choose it
- RevenueCat: subscription status
- Amazon Web Services: hosting and audio/video storage
- Cloudflare: content delivery for this site and our API
Keeping and deleting it
Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile → Delete account, and everything above is removed immediately and permanently. You may also email us to request deletion.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
